Definition: Elevator Pitch 

​A brief talk intended to win approval for something, as a product, a business proposal, or a compelling idea.

 

Why this topic and why now?

Because there is unquestionably a groundswell of interest and a real need for a non-religious conversation about God. The world is desperate for meaning, purpose, and wisdom; a glance at social media will show you that the struggle is real. Humans have an innate need to worship something. That might be health, politics, beauty, or money, but it might be something deeper and more meaningful.

 

If you ask 1,000 people why they believe in God, you are likely to get 1,000 different answers. This website presents a wide variety of thought leaders from around the world – including scientists, mathematicians, logicians, political leaders, journalists, corporate executives, actors, artists, radio hosts, TV producers, athletes, professors, every day people and more – whose positions, perspectives, backgrounds and experiences inform their belief, and whose responses speak to our hearts and minds.

 

Were the authors given any direction about what to address? Not at all. They all had their own ideas about how to approach the subject. Their essays touch on beauty, nature, music, physics, biology, chemistry, technology, archeology, and so much more, providing valuable insights for everyone, believers or not. These essays are not about proving one religion over another.  They are not about “Proof of Christianity,” “Proof of Judaism,” or “Proof of Islam,” etc.  There is no theology in these essays.

 

The writer’s concise, boiled down essays are personal. What differentiates one from the other is their reasoning, their analogies, their proof, if you will. What unifies them is their unshakable belief – hard-won, ingrained from birth, and everything in between – that God exists, that God created the world, and that God continues to take an active interest in what happens here.  Every essay is not a stand-alone proof of God’s existence. But every essay adds to the overall conversation. One of them might have a sentence, an example, or an analogy that will resonate with you. Each one comes from its author’s heart and aims to speak directly to yours. Perhaps no single essay will provide you with all of the answers, but together, they present a compelling argument for why so many intelligent, thoughtful people believe.

 

So open your heart, and your mind, take a deep breath, and dive in. You have nothing to lose and potentially, much to gain.
